Bicycle Friendly Award

In 2020, the League of American Bicyclists  recognized Virginia Commonwealth University as a Bicycle Friendly University at the Gold level, making VCU among one of the top schools for cycling in the country and the most bike-friendly university in Virginia! It was first certified at the Silver level in 2012 and recertified in 2016.

The League's Director of this program presents this award "only to colleges and universities with remarkable commitments to bicycling" based on five themes, known as the 5 E's: Engineering, Education, Encouragement, Enforcement, and Evaluation & Planning. Read more about this award here!
