VCU RamBikes, VCU Sustainability, and VCU Libraries collaborated to bring VCU students a new bike loan program that launched March 27th, 2012. Bikes are a fun, inexpensive, healthy, and sustainable way to commute, exercise, or just to explore the vibrant urban environment VCU is a part of, and VCU would like to provide tools to enable cyclists both new and experienced to get pedaling!
This program consists of 17 loanable bikes. 13 yellow-and-black bikes are stationed on designated racks outside James B. Cabell Library (at the Mobility Hub on Floyd) and 4 at Tompkins-McCaw Library (outside the 13th Street entrance). The bikes can be checked out at the library service desk like a book. Students will have to sign a liability waiver and will be issued a helmet and u-lock to be returned with the bike.
The bikes have a 48-hour check-out period to encourage a high turnover rate and allow anyone to get the chance to try them. Biking, like walking and driving, should be done responsibly. Remember to be safe and to respect the safety of others. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Personal bikes are not to be left parked on these racks. Any personal bikes parked on these racks are subject to removal at owner’s expense. Contact VCU Facilities Management Customer Service at (804) 828-9444 to retrieve removed bikes.
